Imagine you've been lost in the Arizona desert for days and you come
across a rusty car stranded by the side of a dirt road in the middle of
nowhere. You look inside hoping to find anything to quench your thirst,
but instead you find a roll of old film that's been sitting on the
dashboard for God-knows how long... try to magine what those pictures
would look like. (actually, they'd probably look pretty crappy.)
But now you don't have to imagine it, just get yourself some of
our PHOENIX Redscale film! Like a firebird rising from the flame
and ash, this film will ignite creativity and let experimentation take
flight in vibrant hues of amber, gold and charcoal.
Sorry, sorry, I think the sprit of Steve Jobs took
over my keyboard for a moment, but back to reality - The "redscale"
treatment has been around for a long time and ours isn't really any
different. Our current stock uses Fuji Superia X-Tra 400 film expired
in 2005 and
will give you a variety of results depending on how you rate it and how
you scan it or print it. We have designated an ISO of 100 on the
label, but there is no DX code and you can get different effects at
different ISO speeds. (see
my examples below).
I'm keeping these rolls inexpensive by
re-using old
film cassettes and sticking on an artsy label I've made just so you
know what's inside. As with most custom
loaded film the very last picture of each roll may not be exposed as
that is where it is taped. This is NOT a stock product from Fuji and I
am not proporting to represent that fine company in any manner.
My
Examples: These were shot with a Olympus Trip 35 and developed
at my local lab as regular C-41.
